The Office
of Instructional Technology Services provides
support for implementation of San Antonio ISD's Vision 2005
goals and state technology initiatives such as the Texas
Long-Range Plan for Technology: 1996-2010, No
Child Left Behind legislation, the State Board for Educator
Certification (SBEC), and the Technology
Applications TEKS as embedded in content-area TEKS . The
Office of Instructional Technology Services
is responsible for the following activities:
- Facilitating implementation of the Educator Technology Competencies
(ETC) and observational assessments
used to determine if teachers have developed technology
competencies consistent with State Board of Educator Certification
standards and the Texas
Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Scheduling district-wide training
opportunities as well as campus-based
staff development
- Supporting classroom teachers
in their use of technology
- Developing software standards
for instructional software and providing guidance to campuses
and departments.
- Fostering information literacy and problem-solving through
the professional development and Library Media Services.
- Developing online professional development modules, as
well as facilitating their creation, for use by district
staff
- Purchasing licenses for district instructional software
aligned to the Campus
Base Technology Plan and Vision
2005 Long Range Technology Plan, including TPRI
Handheld, Gradebook, Age-appropriate productivity tools.
- Facilitating the selection and acquisition of distance
learning equipment and software, online courses, and resources.
- Works with curriculum
and content area staff to determine instructional needs
- Understands the technology
applications TEKS, and works with teachers to implement
them into the content and curriculum
- Actively seeks and helps develop
grants and community partnerships that benefit San Antonio
ISD students, teachers, and community
