Technology Competency Certification Plan

Enhancing Education Through the Use of Technology

Vision 2009: By the year 2009, the San Antonio Independent School District will design and implement a Technology Competency Certification Plan (TCCP) in line with State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) Standards, No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation, and the Levels of Technology Implementation (LoTI) to include tutorials and online assessments.

In the Long Range Plan for Technology, it states that teachers and professional support staff will have the opportunity to participate in staff development. SAISD is committed to enabling students, teachers, and administrators to effectively integrate technology into the teaching and learning in the District.

SAISD acknowledges that importance placed on computer technology for success in today’s workforce and in public education. A necessity exists for each employee to possess a basic level of computer knowledge, sufficient that he/she can operate a computer and, where necessary, understand the concepts and commands necessary for working with those specific computer hardware and software systems applicable to each employee’s job assignment.

Where applicable, SAISD employees shall be required to participate in, and successfully complete, training provided by SAISD in order to develop sufficient computer technology skills as may be required to effectively and efficiently carry out responsibilities and duties in the job assignment. An assessment of one’s ability to effectively use computers in the job assignment shall become part of the employee’s evaluation process.
