TCCP Certification

Certification Route 1

Certification Route 1 allows SAISD staff to complete a range of professional development hours at each stage. Professional Development Strands have been developed according to core content area to guide individuals in choosing which courses to take in order to fulfill each stage. The number of hours taken at each stage is dependent upon the individual’s need or desire to complete course work. Stages must be completed in sequence for certification to be achieved. The progressive flow is to help the learner build developmental skills to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom.

Participation in TCCP will be tracked using the online course registration system. Currently, SAISD is using an online database for staff members to register for staff development courses. Through this database, teachers can access the courses they have completed as well as the number of professional development hours. This database will serve to keep track of individuals participating in the TCCP and will also verify the stages completed or in progress for each individual. Therefore, SAISD staff members will have current online access to course completion lists and stage completion lists.

Any courses taken prior to May 1, 2004 will not be accepted for TCCP credit.

Certification Route 2

Certification Route 2 allows SAISD staff to complete each stage of the TCCP through the completion of assessments. This certification route does not exclude a staff member from completing any stage. Assessments must be completed at each stage.

Stage 1 completion can be accomplished by passing a multiple choice test, with a grade of 80 or higher, over courses listed within the TCCP and the recommended professional development strands. The certification tests can be taken at the Student Support and Network Services Building as requested. Individuals who wish to obtain Stage 1 Certification through the assessment route must call the Office of Instructional Technology Services to schedule a testing date.

Stages 2 - 4 require a portfolio assessment via an online database. Verification of campus model teaching must be obtained through the use of the Levels of Technology Implementation (LoTI) survey and the administrator handheld initiative. The Office of Instructional Technology Services will make weekly visits to campuses participating in the TCCP to offer assistance or guidance to teachers who are implementing technology integration strategies in the classroom.
