Library Media Services:
By 2005, the District's library system will promote information literacy and problem solving through increased access to ample print-rich materials and electronic media. The library will serve as a readily available information hub for guided, strategic use of electronic and print media.

Technology Academies for Paraeducators:
As a paraeducator, you need to know what staff development sessions can put you on the path to success is — whether you are in a classroom, a computer lab, or an office. It is for that reason that ITLS has charted different routes to help you be successful. These routes are organized into Technology Academies and mapped out for you in the Professional Development Catalog.

2002-2003 School Year

  1. TLA Librarian Presentations: These are presentations developed by SAISD librarians who attended the Texas Librarians' Association conference in 2003. Librarians are still submitting these so check back for additions.
  2. TCEA 2003 Presentations: These are presentations developed by SAISD staff members who have attended the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) 2003 State Conference. In 2003, sixty-six professional staff attended this state conference. Their presentations are shown here.
  3. TASA Technology Leadership Academy: These action plans and presentations represent the work of principals participating in the Technology Leadership Academy. They include the following cohorts, or groups, of principals:

 

Technology Application:TEKS, Grades K-12: An 18 week curriculum composed of problem-based thematic units, designed with middle school students interests in mind.

Technology Literacy Institute (TLI): These SAISD-made resources offer you a wealth of printable materials you can use to learn how-to use technology, as well as how to best integrate it into the curriculum. Visit the Technology Literacy Institute to get tutorials on Web Outlook, MS Office Suite programs like Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Publisher, MovieMaker2, as well as Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Studio MX.
 
Technology Integration Academies (TIA):
These academies are designed to help classroom teachers create research-based, differentiated, technology-enhanced learning environments. They model constructivist, technology-assisted approaches that foster long-term, in-depth learning in students and provide teachers with strategies and tools for incorporating media analysis/technology activities in order to develop critical thinking and communication skills.
