What were the main points made during this session, the "takeaways?" |
| Using a blog in the classroom is not just another form of writing, but a way to get a conversation going and being able to use listening skills and respondng in a mature and meaningful way. You have to be able to read a blog posting and respond to it in a way that keeps the conversation going, not with something superficial. The whole classroom needs to reflect being able to blog well. |
What questions did you have after this presentation? |
| What does this classroom look like? How do I set up my room and introduce blogging to the classroom? How to find good professional blogs? How do you keep the students from going to places they shouldn't? |
In terms of your own professional development, what did you gain from the session? |
| I need to get myself ready so that I can successfully pass this knowledge onto the students. I have started my own blog so that I can familiarize myself with the world of blogging. I am not sure I would do this all the time, but I would definitely have this in my classroom so that students can experience different mediums. They are so involved with technology and what a great way to get them more involved. |
How will you apply the learning to your professional situation? |
| Like I said before, I have started my own blog to get familiar with how it all works. I need to be able to do it and show the kids that I am involved in this aspect of technology. I like the idea of using the blog as a way of responding to other's writings. Students can respond to other's writing assignments and give them feedback via a blog posting. I think that would be a great way to get a conversation going about how to change or improve one's writing. I think also being able to get a blog out there so that other schools could read your writing and respond would be a great way to use it. |
