What were the main points made during this session, the "takeaways?"
The main takeaways that I got from this session were that there are so many things to do in the classroom and technology can make it much more interesting to complete them. I got some really great websites to check out to do some really fun stuff that kids can get really into. I especially liked the toondoo cartoon website. (I like that the presenter also gave different grade level websites as well.) I can't wait to get into the classroom and try some of these out.

What questions did you have after this presentation?
How do your students like all of these new applications? Do you find that they get more into their learning when doing assignments using these ways instead of with pen and paper?

In terms of your own professional development, what did you gain from the session?
I need to go exploring to find new ways to present material. Just like what this conference is about, we have to find new ways to do things because we are in a completely different world. There is a plethora of resources out there, we just need a jumpstart to go find them.

How will you apply the learning to your professional situation?
I have already started my own blog so that I can become more involved in technology. I have used the internet for many resources but with this session, I have realized that I have only just scratched the surface. I really need to get out there and find more unique ways to get kids to learn. These websites that I got from this session are only a few and I know that there will be more that I can find. Like I said before, I can't wait to get into the classroom and start some of these things.

What other resources (including reading material) are relevant to this session?
I have just completed an online course that explored supporting literacy development in lower elementary classrooms and there were some great websites to use for this. PBS "Between the Lions" website pbskids.org/lions/index.html, Starfall www.starfall.com, and BBC Words and Picures at www.bbc.co.uk/schools/wordsandpictures/index.shtml are just a few that allow kids to participate in interactive activities while enhancing their reading skills
