When
choosing educational software, educators need to evaluate the software
carefully to see that the purchase can enhance the overall curriculum.
Educational software should enhance classroom learning and develop
higher order thinking skills. Software applications are not additions
to the curriculum, but should easily fit into the scope and sequence
of the course.
The following items outline the process for requesting
product review by the Office of Instructional Technology and Learning
Services (ITLS). Instructional Technology will work with the requesting
campus as well as multiple departments in ascertaining whether products
meet the needs of SAISD staff and/or students. It also seeks to
establish whether the product is aligned to Vision 2005 and the
scope and sequence of approved SAISD programs.
Campuses
may not submit a purchase request through the electronic purchasing
system until a Product
Review Application has been completed.
All
products require the completion of the Product
Review Application. Even items appearing on the SAISD
Approved Software List requires that an application form be
completed.
