Email Update sent on 10/22/2004

Hi! Some exciting news to share with you! Before we get into that news, however, I want to thank you for the hard work all of you have put into submitting the Campus Access Survey. Like you, I've been struggling with the detail elements of the survey and trying to make it easier to enter data into based on your feedback.

CAMPUS ACCESS SURVEY
I appreciate the feedback many of you have provided, especially how to customize the survey so that it can accept more data. Some examples of those customizations included Section 3 modifications for High School, additional Other categories, Edusoft Scanning Computer additions, and more "boxes" for Section 4. If you're curious, there were about 500 little boxes to keep track of (!!!), and I appreciate your help in making sure the survey worked well. I'm also grateful to Lamar ES and Twain MS for having completed the survey early on, and then sending us the information so that we could verify.

As you will see in a moment, campuses that have completed their Campus Access Survey will be able to "log-in" to participate in the Campus Enhancement Program (CEP). More details regarding that are included below.

TCEA 2005 STATE CONFERENCE
Attached to this email, please find the weekly memo that goes out today to principals. The memo outlines expectations for you as Campus Technology Representatives (CTRs) attending the TCEA conference. It also clarifies various details regarding lodging, travel, etc. The important thing to keep in mind is that Instructional Technology will take care of your registration. You do not need to register for the conference since we will handle that detail for you. However, you are expected to work things out with your principal regarding substitutes, mileage, lodging expenses. Instructional Technology will not cover these costs, only the registration fee.

CAMPUS ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (CEP)
A weekly memo will be sent later today (or Monday) to principals regarding the Campus Enhancement Program for technology. You can find some of the details online at
http://www.saisd.net/ADMIN/newtech/projects/enhancement.shtm

Note that you will not be able to submit an enhancement program request unless your campus has first completed the Campus Access Survey.

CAMPUS STAR CHART
Although it's terrible of me to remind you of another survey while you're still working on the current one, I need to do just that. Please don't forget that the Campus STaR Chart needs to be submitted by November 30th. The STaR Chart is used for assessment submitted Should you need someone to work with your Campus Leadership Team, or the technology subcommittee, please do not hesitate to send email to Miguel Guhlin (mguhlin@saisd.net) or call 527-1400.

GRAPHIC ORGANIZER INITIATIVE
Please be aware that the purchase of Kidspiration and Inspiration graphic organizer software was approved. More details on how you can take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to put age-appropriate, graphic organizer software in the hands of students and colleagues will be made available online at http://itls.saisd.net/go by the November 16th CTR Meeting. Note that the web site will be enhanced between now and then.

Wishing you well,
