SAISD – Dell TechKnow Program for Middle
School Students
Abstract
SAISD is partnering with Dell Corporation to offer the
Dell TechKnow program to middle schools interested in offering this
“after-school program”.
The Dell TechKnow program is a class taught after-hours that teaches students
about computers and their application. Students take apart and rebuild
computers, understand what the parts do, load and use software, set up and
run printers, identify and correct hardware problems and learn about the internet.
The program will impact 20 students from 10 middle
schools. This program will enable 200 low-income or under-served middle
school students an opportunity to earn a home computer and learn technology
skills that promote self-esteem, academic success, and prepare students for
opportunities in today’s technology-driven world.
